Since we became parents we haven't really done much eating out as we tend to spend every evening at home with our little boy and to be honest I'd much rather experiment in the kitchen myself than pay a fortune for a meal at a restaurant.
We don't actually have any really decent restaurants in Grimsby but I will be sure to blog about any experiences I have in the future.
Belated Birthday Meal
So we finally got to my sisters house for my birthday meal last night, only 2 months late. We had a lovely evening, lots of laughs and amazing food. Here are some pics of what she cooked for us:-
Butternut Squash and Chilli Soup
Absolutely beautiful bowl of soup, just the right consistency and plenty of chilli gave it a real kick. I could have had seconds quite easily but then I'd not have eaten the main course.
Beef Wellington, Twice Cooked Chips, Asparagus, Broccoli and Red Wine Sauce
Cooked to absolute perfection, I ate every scrap on my plate. Not enough chips for me but I'll let her off. The chips were fantastic and I will be cooking them for us soon.
She cheated with the pudding which was Creme Brulle and it was gorgeous but she didn't make it herself! Tutt tutt sis!
Overall, I would give her an 8 out of 10 as the starter and main were perfection and absolutely delicious but points knocked off for cheating with the pudding and forgetting to put the sugar on top before attacking it with the blow torch! DOH!
